BUILDING DREAMS

Limited resources in the village areas of Nepal have forced the residents to live in small box that lacks proper education, care, and a sense of empowerment among the people. Being a male-dominated country, women in Nepal are more crippled by the tradition and trends existing in village areas. Women in rural areas are still limited in doing their household work as their goal is to complete the chores of the house.

Empowering women has always been the goal of Annapurna Aroma since Day one. We wanted to contribute our knowledge and resources to bring change in the lifestyle of people living in rural areas. Rautahat being one of our fields was our first project location. We hosted a program in collaboration with an NGO Sambriddhi Foundation called DREAM SUPPORT. Dream support aims to provide necessary awareness about the Agricultural and cottage industry and also guides the women to get into farming, cultivation, animal farming, and many more areas. It was a little difficult to get everyone on board because women couldn’t even think about themselves getting into business and earning. Most of the cultivators and farmers of Annapurna aroma joined the program. We have seen a huge change in the lifestyle of people after the program. The program managed to inspire several women to get into cultivation and animal farming. ?

The participants had to create a vision board by illustrating the things that they want to achieve in their future. Since the women are not educated, they opted to draw pictures of their goals.?

Sangeeta is one of the cultivators of Annapurna Aroma Company. She married as a child and had children when she was young. She was not only tied by the responsibilities of a mother and a wife but she was also crippled by the rules and regulations set for women at that time. She now owns 4 buffalos and 15 goats. She now DREAMS about adding 6 more buffalos and 10 more goats. Her story encourages us to share wisdom and knowledge with every woman in Rural villages.
