? Building DataLayers Just Got Simpler: My Private Chrome Extension Update ?

Hey everyone,

This week, I want to share an exciting update about a project that I’ve poured a lot of effort into recently: a private Chrome extension that helps non-technical users create dataLayer events effortlessly.

If you’ve ever struggled with creating or debugging dataLayer events for Google Tag Manager (GTM), this extension is here to save you time and headaches. It simplifies a process that many of us have had to wrestle with and puts the power back into your hands, even if you don’t have a technical background.

Here’s what makes it special:

? Generate dataLayer events instantly: No coding required.

? Preview and test events directly: Easily validate click behavior before deploying.

? Auto-copy JavaScript code: Streamlines the process of integrating dataLayer events into GTM.

? Works on any website: Yes, this isn’t just limited to Shopify.

What inspired this extension?

It’s no secret that setting up tracking on your website can be overwhelming. Whether you’re a marketer, store owner, or anyone working with analytics, the technical complexity can be a barrier. I wanted to create something simple yet powerful that could remove this hurdle entirely.

Over the past few days, I’ve also updated the file to fix a minor issue some of you faced when installing the extension. A huge thanks to those who flagged this — your feedback made it better!

How does it work?

I recorded a step-by-step video showing how to:

?? Identify CSS selectors or classes for your events.

?? Create dynamic dataLayer values for GTM.

?? Set up GA4 tags, triggers, and variables based on these events.

What’s next?

This extension has already helped a lot of people streamline their workflows, and I’m working on additional updates to make it even better. If you have suggestions or ideas, I’d love to hear them!

Want to try it?

This is a private extension, so it’s not listed on the Chrome Web Store. If you’d like access, Checkout the below video: (The Extension files are included in the YouTube video Description)

Finally, thank you to everyone who has supported this project, engaged with my posts, and shared their feedback. It’s your support that makes these ideas come to life.

Let’s make web analytics simple and accessible for everyone. ??

Best,

Ahmed
