Building Connections Beyond the Screen
In an increasingly remote world, working onsite offers a refreshing opportunity to foster deeper, more meaningful interactions. Whether it’s interviewing a candidate or collaborating with colleagues, face-to-face meetings bring a level of connection that’s hard to replicate online.
Here’s what a few colleagues have to say about it:
“I love the energy of being in the room with someone. Interviews flow more naturally, and you can truly read the candidate’s body language. You get to know them beyond just what’s on paper.” — Ciara Alston, PRC , Client Relations Enthusiast ApTask
“For me, it’s the impromptu discussions that make a difference. You bump into someone in the hallway, start a quick chat, and suddenly, you’ve sparked a new idea or solution you hadn’t considered.” — Shirin Bilimoria , Head of Backoffice Operations ApTask

I personally feel, in-person collaboration allows ideas to flourish in real time, with the added benefit of spontaneous creativity. These small interactions—whether brainstorming or simply having a conversation over coffee—help build stronger, more trusting relationships with colleagues.
And as for potential team members, the impact is profound. They often feel more comfortable and engaged during in-person interviews, where the environment is more natural and conducive to open conversation. This comfort allows them to share their experiences more authentically, which leads to a better evaluation of their fit within the team.
At the end of the day, these face-to-face meetings not only enhance productivity, but also leave us more energized and fulfilled. It’s about more than just getting the job done—it’s about building meaningful connections that uplift the workplace.
Now, that’s not to say remote work doesn’t have its place—after all, many thrive in a virtual environment. But for me, the human connection that comes with being onsite is irreplaceable. Just my two cents. What do you think? Share your thoughts below!
