Building Connection and Trust

Building Connection and Trust

Fearful, relieved, despondent, hopeful, and “heartbroken” are words I’m hearing a lot this week.? Our polarized country is trying to make sense of where we are.? Wherever you are today, be kind to yourself and to others.? Maybe this is a time when we can really benefit from the listening skills we have been developing.? I’ve been listening to very different friends this week, working to better understand what's next.

Are you living in a community where you feel like you are safe and belong? Healthy societies have high levels of trust - trust in government, trust in information sources?, and trust in each other. Might this be a time for us to build trust both locally and nationally???

Building connection and trust is what I want to do in my hometown and across the country. ? One way to contribute to this goal is to have conversations about our interests and values ?using our conversation guides on the following topics: :?

When we have these conversations, we deepen our relationships and build new friendships. Our differences can become part of a more complex understanding and appreciation of each other. ?We can have these conversations at our libraries, schools, places of worship, clubs, and workplaces.??

And as the holidays approach, we will be better prepared to be with friends and family who see things differently.??

Let us know how we can support you. This works best when we do it together, sharing our stories and growing our impact.?

Thank you for all the ways you contribute,
