Chess, a game with roots tracing back nearly 1,500 years to 6th century India, demands strategic thinking, resilience, and continuous learning. Daniel Pohl discovered these parallels when his son joined his elementary school’s chess team, and what started as a bonding activity evolved into a thriving chess community at Logicworks, which became part of RapidScale in 2023.

Daniel Pohl's initiative led to the formation of a chess team at Logicworks , and their participation in national tournaments saw them competing with tech giants like Google and Uber. The team’s journey didn’t end with the acquisition; it expanded. Today, the Cox Chess Club boasts around 75 members, from beginners to advanced players, uniting employees from across the organization.

The Chess Club isn’t just about competition. It’s a unique platform for employees to connect, learn, and grow. Monthly internal tournaments and participation in the North American Corporate Chess League foster a sense of community and continuous improvement. Daniel Pohl believes the lessons from chess — learning from mistakes, strategic thinking, and perseverance — are equally valuable in the corporate world.
