Along with Freelancing, my focus would also be on carving out a business by Expanding Clients. Finally leaving you with a Complete Guide that would help you Get Clients.

Let’s first divide this article into 2 parts – First one concentrating on Getting your First client. It elaborates on things that matter when you are starting in this business.

And the second part focuses on Expanding clients. This step would take place after you have built a set profile in the market. Since this is going to be a long post, let’s not waste time and dive right in.

The First Step in Client Building

Getting my first client – A daunting task

Back when I started, I practically had no knowledge about how things work. I was just shooting my arrows in the dark, hoping to hit a bullseye. My first client came from www.freelancer.in. He was an African person and gave me my first freelance assignment. The task was to write 500-word product reviews by using the given keywords.

Since I was not at all experienced, I had no idea about the payment methods and cycle. Also, the quality of my work was not too good and I struggled a lot during the first few days of the assignment.

All these struggles gave him a hint and he knew that I was completely new to freelancing. So, he made me work for a while, promising to pay me by the end of the month and then whoosh – he was gone! Yes, my first client duped me.
