Building A Company For the Next 100+ Years

At Anheuser-Busch InBev, our real and lasting advantage is our people and our culture, united by a Dream that we all share. Dreams are powerful – they excite us, force us to think differently and they stretch us to grow. Our Dream is to bring people together for a better world.

For more than 25 years, I’ve partnered with my colleagues to support our company and the beer industry, and I have seen people all around the world come together over a shared love of beer. I believe in our Dream, and because of this, I am personally committed to building our company to last so that we can continue to bring people together for the next 100+ years. 

Doing this will depend on a healthy environment, natural ingredients, clean and accessible water and thriving communities. Climate change is putting this at risk. It is the most pressing issue confronting our planet, and we must act at every level of our supply chain to ensure strong communities and to protect the natural resources we rely on to brew our high-quality beers.

We have been committed to building a better world for decades and have achieved all of our previous sustainability goals. We have also leveraged our brands to engage consumers in our Dream. Stella Artois’ and Water.org’s “Buy a Lady a Drink” program has inspired consumers to provide water access for more than a million people in the developing world. Corona and Parley for the Oceans are partnering to protect 100 islands from marine plastic pollution by 2020. Budweiser recently launched a renewable electricity symbol to highlight our commitment to brewing with 100% renewable electricity and has encouraged other companies to join us in adopting the symbol on their products.

As the world’s leading brewer, we are building on these successes while continuing to stretch ourselves and aim even higher.

So today, we announce our 2025 Sustainability Goals. We designed these ambitious commitments to positively impact our communities around the world and to deliver measurable results, now and for the next 100+ years. Our goals focus on four priorities where we believe we can have the most impact:

Smart Agriculture: 100% of our direct farmers will be skilled, connected and financially empowered

Water Stewardship: 100% of our communities in high-stress areas will have measurably improved water availability and quality

Circular Packaging: 100% of our products will be in packaging that is returnable or made from majority recycled content

Climate Action: 100% of our purchased electricity will be from renewable sources & 25% reduction of carbon emissions across our value chain

We are a global brewer, but our heritage comes from our local businesses around the world. The issues we face are diverse, requiring local insight and action to drive real and lasting results. The delivery of our 2025 Sustainability Goals will have a wide-reaching impact that includes connecting thousands of farmers to technologies and skills, improving water access and quality in our communities, partnering with our suppliers to increase recycled content and adding renewable electricity capacity to regional grids.

Our Dream unites our nearly 200,000 colleagues and 500 iconic beer brands around our passion for beer and for bringing people together for a better world. But our Dream is bigger than us – it touches everyone. So, we call on others to collaborate with us, contribute solutions and join us on this journey. Because this planet is our only home and the next 100+ years are best enjoyed together.
