Building Communities To Grow Your Business

Building Communities To Grow Your Business

A strong and engaged community is key to brand awareness, loyalty, and overall success.

Everyone knows this, but when thinking about building a community people don't see an immediate return, and this blocks them from even starting one.

And that's true, communities take time and lots of effort to build and nurture. But in the long run, the efforts and time investment pay off with enhanced loyalty and improved brand awareness.

KEY ELEMENTS TO BUILDING A STRONG COMMUNITY

??? 1. Posts: often and relevant

It's important to keep your audience engaged with relevant posts for them. At the same time, you'll need to post often enough, so they won't forget about you. It's always better to post less if you don't have something that can actually be valuable for your community.

Plan your schedule ahead, so you can see how often you could post, and you add more variation to your content.

?? 2. Provide free support

?Free support doesn't only give value to your community. It also helps you build thought leadership in a specific area through the content and help you're sharing. And as we always say, whatever you give will soon come back to you. So don't be afraid of giving, helping and supporting.

??? 3. Personal is authentic

?Your job as a community builder is not only to post content or moderate what others post. You need to make sure you're building a strong relationship with your audience on a personal level.

This means, besides the educational and support content, you need to also share some personal experiences too. This can help people understand who you are and draw your profile in their minds - pretty much like when we're reading a book and get an idea of the character's looks but also personality.

??? 4. Make connections

?You're the one reading all the comments, and posts and maybe even talking over a call to some of the community members. You're the one that can connect the dots and introduce relevant people to each other.

You could connect, for example:

  • someone looking for help with someone that can provide help
  • people with the same interests or from the same industry
  • people going through the same journey

?? 5. Add some humor

?Share something that can also entertain, not only educate or help. We all need some lighter content now and then, to distract and why not, to connect emotionally.

You can share something that you find funny, or create some fun posts. Memes and GIFs are always a great way to make someone smile.
