Building Cliqs and Communities that Help You with LinkedIn Locals

Building Cliqs and Communities that Help You with LinkedIn Locals

It has been awfully long days with messages about the late Nigerian entertainer. and in all of these, we can see how community and cliques have influenced the reaction of people all over the country.

This is why your community is the one that backs you up and speaks for you even when you are not around.

So how then can you build your own community or what is a community?

We would start with the definition of community and a community can be defined as a group of people with shared interests [for the purpose of this content].

So, "Shared Interest" here is what we need.

This means that a group of people can share the same interest in professional hangouts and meet-ups which can mean:

  1. Career Development: People who have aspirations to become a top professional in their field.
  2. Personal Development: People such as freelancers, creators etc. looking to upskill and secure the bag.
  3. Industry Insights and many more are similar interests people share.

This is one reason to target events like this.

I remember my very first event a few years back, I volunteered to help with the content creation but I had one target; I was going to meet some big shots and make sure I made an "impression".

At the end of the event; I was leaving with a potential Job offer that trumps sending resumes up and down or applying.

In my heart, I knew I had cracked a code for my next Job, and in a year and a half; I fully transitioned to a new role plus all the newbies, and creators that attended the event were those I connected with back on LinkedIn.

To build a community of yours; here are a few tips to help you get started:

  1. Create emotional connections: When you create emotional connections, you leave a lasting impression. One of the best ways is to tell your stories because fact tells and stories sell. When you share your story; your community understands you better. Sesi Hundeyin is someone you should learn from about emotional connections.
  2. Support your community: You need to carry other people's work on your head like you are the owner, share people's work on your page or other socials, and make introductions and referrals to other people. I can do bad all by myself attitude" won't help anymore. When it comes to support; I have seen creators like ?? Chinedu Junior Ihekwoaba do this well.
  3. Teach something you know: You don't need to have a large following; so what you have to do is gather a couple of courage and tell people you want to teach even if it is for free. This gets you local fans.
  4. Join one: If you can't beat them, join one; you see those small hangouts that people like Oche Writes create, please attend o. This is where you can meet your community.

That being said when you attend this year's LinkedIn Local Bootcon on November 11th, 2023, you will be meeting hundreds of folks with shared interests such as yours.

It is your own chance to build your own community.

In addition, we have partnered with Jupita Academy which is also giving out discounts on their courses in Data Science, Product management, and more when you enroll with them from now till December, so you get to pay just N40,000 instead of N100,000.

You need people in your corner, no man is an Island. That support you get from the members of your community is everything.
