Building a career or building reputation?
That is the question. To lay, to dream… no I am playing a scene, I am just wondering. When building something it’s very important to lay a foundation. The stronger the foundation, the stronger the image you put out there. When we first started the series of dates, we needed to create a brand from scratch. This scratch didn’t mean less money, though. So, the first thing in building reputation is the input of both time and money. This stage is very similar to building sand castles. The odds are always against you: build something spectacular that may not last when the tide is here or build something so you can kill some time while you are at the beach. We chose the first option, we invested in something that could simply be an ephemeral series of themed parties.
But what did we learn?
We learned that building opulence it’s never easy, nor cheap. We chose to do things different, although when looking back we see the mistakes made as rookies. It’s all part of the experience, we say now. Building reputation, building a brand it’s not an easy job. Prepare for that! You might get lonely, people who don’t see immediate results might leave. You can be discouraged when you see things advancing too slow, You can suffer from sleep deprivation and lack money. But in the end, you get a break, along with the first interview, the first time you make it to the 7 o’clock news.
