The basic definition of personal brand equity is the level of positive, residual emotional feeling others have about us and our personal brand. If others have strong, positive feelings about you, then you have accumulated a significant amount of personal brand equity.
The converse is also true. We build personal brand equity by practicing consistent behavior over time that reinforces the message we want others to think when they think of us.
Your brand equity is simply the difference in premium you are able to charge due to your branding when compared to a generic brand or the average cost charged within your field. By building your personal brand, over time you are able to premium price your services. In recruiting circles, this premium paid is called “love money”.
