Building Blocks - Week 49

Building Blocks - Week 49

Welcome to another edition of Building Blocks where we look at trends impacting real estate,?sustainability, and profitability.?

Fundraising picked up last week for the companies we follow, a good sign. We have one more Building Blocks webinar for 2022 next week (see below). Plus we are starting to see interest in prefab/modular construction, something where Sweden is a natural leader with a majority of its new building stock of detached house prefab manufactured. Something the?ESGrelab?research team will be looking into next as prefab/modular is a great way to get the global affordable housing crisis under control.

Modular and prefab starting to take off…part1

The new funding will help ilke Homes scale-up its operations and open a new factory that will increase output capacity to 4,000 homes a year, creating over 1,000 new jobs in the UK.

“Having pioneered a zero-carbon, zero energy bills solution in partnership with Octopus Energy and Gresham House, the new monies will allow us to roll out our proven concept across the country.”

?

Modular and prefab starting to take off…part2

Its patented Plant Building System utilizes digital modeling and fully customizable Plant Panels and Plant Modules to help architects, developers, general contractors, and individuals design and build multifamily and custom single-family homes faster than site-based methods. The system provides better quality control, design flexibility, and time, cost, and material efficiency than traditional methods of offsite or on-site construction.

?

Sustainable real estate development using Web3 technology

“The UAE has one of the most advanced blockchain-backed property frameworks. I’m taking my learnings from here and applying them to Senegal. Everyone already knows that blockchain-based applications can drive radical and disruptive innovations. However, blockchain use, especially across property assets, is still limited. By building blockchain-backed infrastructures in Senegal and West Africa, we can establish sustainable, long-term benefits that bring value to all stakeholders,”

?

Greener roads??

Shell has linked-up with the Connect Plus consortium of Edge Orbital Holdings, Balfour Beatty and Egis Investment Partners to decarbonise road paving in the UK.

The deal will see the companies explore solutions to extend the pavement life of the M25.

?

Alberta invests $55 million into province’s affordable housing

“The new Affordable Housing Partnership Program is open for applications to help public, non-profit and private sectors work together to build and deliver affordable housing for seniors, families, individuals with low incomes, developmental disabilities, physical challenges, victims of violence and others.”
