Building blocks of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation - Learning experiences from different parts of the world
Even if not our tagline, "learning by sharing" has always been some sort of tacit slogan of IASP, ever since our CEO Luis Sanz launched it for the first time.
And learning by sharing is exactly what we'll do in Moscow at our annual training seminar on the Fundamentals of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation - a pre-conference event to our annual World Conference.
Looking back, we did the same when having our past world conferences in Beijing, Doha, Recife, Tallinn, Copenhagen, Daejeon, Raleigh North Carolina, Johannesburg and the list could go on and on...
We did the same - but always with new perspectives, as every year we engage new experts to share their knowledge and help to shorten the learning curve for newcomers to our industry.
What about incubation? How do I encourage the creation and growth of new businesses at my park? And what about marketing my Science Park or offering the right services? Many questions pop up when you are new to the task, and this year we'll have sessions tackling topics like business incubation, governance, marketing, services and even a wild-card session on Science Park manager 'nightmares'. It will all be linked to Science/Technology Parks (STPs) and Areas of Innovation (AOIs) and is a unique opportunity to connect with international colleagues facing the same problems and challenges.
This year experts to share their experiences are McLean Sibanda (South Africa), André Domin (Germany), Paul Krutko (USA), Lena Miranda (Sweden), Canan ?akmak?i (Turkey), Luis Sanz (IASP) and longstanding IASP member Malcolm Parry (UK) who with his many years of experience will share his view on the ten biggest problems or nightmares in the life of a Science Park manager.
If you are working on a new STP/AOI, or recently joined the management team of an already existing organisation, I can only encourage you to join us on 19th September at Skolkovo Innovation Centre in Moscow.
I'm sure the seminar will allow you to take home useful input to keep improving your project. And not only will it be a learning experience but also an outstanding networking day, as you will get to talk to peers in a smaller setting before the World Conference that will start in the evening of the same day (https://www.iasp2016moscow.com/).
I'll have the honour of moderating our pre-conference event, and would love to see you among the participants. See more about the pre-conference seminar at https://www.iasp2016moscow.com/agenda/#program_2446
