Building Blocks For A Culture of Trust

Research shows that Trust is at an all-time low. In nearly all industries, over the last few years, there's been a decline in Trust, both individually and in the marketplace. The side effects of this trust distrust are apparent.

  • 71% of people surveyed think interpersonal confidence has worsened in the past 20 years.
  • Half (49%) of them think that the significant reason dragging down such Trust is that Americans are not as reliable as they used to be.

What is Trust?

I invited Cory Scheer , an Organizational Trust Strategist and the founder and CEO of Trust Centric Consulting, to my Unconventional Ministry Podcast to talk about Trust.

There were three (3) key podcast questions for our podcast conversation:

  1. What is a good definition of Trust?
  2. How do we explain why there is declining Trust in society?
  3. What are some building blocks for rebuilding Trust?

Listen NOW to our podcast conversation! Click on the graphic.

"Trust is the firm belief in the truth of something!" Cory Scheer. Cory went on to explain that if you condense that even further, you have the one word for Trust, which equals "truth." ?

For your business or ministry, the practical challenge, of course, is how it is that you define truth within an organization. When there is a divergence, and when there is inconsistency in a clear definition of that truth, Trust will be in decline!

Cultivating Trust is more important than ever. It requires authenticity, transparency, and consistency. It means delivering on promises, being accountable, and showing empathy. Trust is built over time, and it is worth the effort.

Did you know that Trust is mentioned over 100 times in the Bible and is often used as a metaphor for faith?

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Understanding the current level of Trust among your employees, teams, and leaders is essential to your business! Research shows that when there is an absence of Trust, employee loyalty drops by as much as 66%, affecting productivity.

Want to improve productivity? Connect with?Cory Scheer?- an Organizational Trust Strategist. Trust is the cornerstone of meaningful relationships, both personal and professional. The glue binds us together, allowing us to connect on a deeper level. Trust empowers us to take risks, to be vulnerable, and to grow. Without Trust, we are left isolated, unable to truly thrive.

David Horsager - Global Trust Expert, says, "Without trust, there's no capacity for healthy relationships."

The reality is that we live in a world filled with skepticism, doubt, and diminishing Trust. There could be multiple reasons behind this decline in Trust:

  • With the rise of social media,
  • With the increasing number of data breaches,
  • The lack of transparency in the corporate world,
  • The fact that consumers are more cautious than ever before,
  • The rise of fake news and misinformation has eroded people's Trust in the media and their ability to report accurate information.
  • The increasing polarization of politics and society has led to a distrust of government and institutions perceived as biased or corrupt.
  • The corporate scandals and unethical practices of some businesses have undermined people's Trust in the economic system,
  • The lack of transparency and accountability in many institutions has also contributed to the decline in Trust.

What are the reasons you've noticed for the decline of Trust in your environment?

Imagine for a moment a world where Trust reigns supreme - where people confidently collaborate, innovate, and support each other. It's a world where businesses flourish, teams excel, and individuals reach their full potential.

Trust is not just a nice-to-have, it is a game-changer!

Platforms like 'Fakebook' exemplify how the digital age allows individuals to curate and sometimes distort their true selves. While the potential for deception on social media is real, it underscores the age-old importance of valuing truth and authenticity in character. Let's remember to seek genuine connections both online and off.
