Building on Beehiiv: Thinking Inside the Box

I’m 10+ weeks in to building The Lunch Break?? on Beehiiv, and let me just say, it’s been fun.
If I'm being honest, there have been times I questioned my sanity in publishing a daily newsletter.?
But overall, I’m so happy I did!
Creativity Challenger
Challenging myself to create and publish something new daily encourages my creativity.?
I think we've become so obsessed with the idea of thinking outside the box.?
It's seen as the marker of creativity.
And, if you can think outside the box, you’re led to believe you're on to something.?
I actually see it the other way around.?
I think the most creative ideas come from thinking inside the box.
Mark Omlor and I had a comment exchange on this, and we agreed that some of the best ideas come when you have constraints.
Those walls force us to see things differently.?To work with what we have to create something new.?
That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do with The Lunch Break??
I have a daily deadline, and because of that, I’m opening myself up to creative opportunities in places I wouldn’t have looked before.?
Maybe it’s an interaction with my kids, an anecdote from a podcast, building on an idea I’ve previously discussed, or repurposing and repackaging a high-performing post.
Whatever it is, my creativity is getting a boost because I know I have to deliver an email every workday at Noon EST.?

Instead of a weekly round-up, I’m giving you a monthly round-up.

Beehiiv did the work for me, which is nice.
They sent me a simple, easy-to-follow recap email with all of my September stats.

5 个月This is awesome, Maria! I agree with you and Mark Omlor regarding constraints! This is why I loved the early days of Twitter and learning to communicate an idea in so many characters. Highly recommend the book, How to Write Short by Roy Peter Clark
