Let it be known that I love the slow grow.?
I love that I organically attracted 88 people to my newsletter and that they felt compelled to share their email addresses with me.?
I don’t take my spot in their inbox lightly.?
It’s a privilege.?
But, there's a part of me that's influenced by the speed of society that wants to expedite the growth of my subscriber list.
I want the flood of followers and ad dollars. I want people to subscribe and share The Lunch Break??with their friends.?
I want to speed things up and get to that point.
However, there’s something so thrilling about this time.?
The scrappiness, excitement, and curiosity about whether this is the newsletter makes waves or if that post is the one that’ll get people’s attention. I love it.
Beehiiv does a great job of educating its audience.?They share a lot of helpful content on social and host free webinars.
I followed some of their advice, but this week, I decided to “Ask the Audience.” Remember that lifeline from Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
Just Ask
Advice clears the weeds of our minds so we can see what's ahead of us.
I saw Anthony Gaenzle tweeting about his newsletter on X.
I was impressed with his numbers so I figured I’d message him and see if he had any growth tips to share.?
He came back with some helpful advice that cleared the weeds for me.
One of which was to pin a post about my newsletter with the subscribe link to my social profiles. ?
So, I put together a post describing The Lunch Break??, added a link, and pinned it to my profile. Shoutout Brianne Fleming for sharing the post and boosting its reach!!?
I got two new subscribers from it.?
There’s power in asking people who are where you aspire to be questions.?
They’ve been in your shoes before. They get it.?

They’re the people you want to learn from.?
So, if you’re like me, growing a newsletter, or are new in your career and want to climb the ranks, surround yourself with people who’ve been where you are.
Pay attention to what they’re doing and ask them questions if you feel comfortable enough.
