Don't get me wrong Only Fools & Horses is one of my favourite TV shows but rest assured I would do everything in my powers not to have Del Boy pull me in to one of his 'deals' and look like a right 'plonker'
Since 1952 Spur? has become a badge of quality within the industry for wall mounted shelving systems, after all we did invent the system!! Architects and contractors to this day specify us on almost every tender document relating to shelving systems.
However due to greed of certain contractors and builders merchants we've seen a large influx of fraudulent claims from these sources claiming that the systems they import from the Far East are compatible with Spur? (Del Boy tactics) - LIES! It's a shame as customers who are buying from these companies under false pretence are reporting back to us the issues they have afterwards.
I guess it's like buying a Skoda and thinking you are getting a Ferrari - on the face of it yes it has wheels and an engine but in no way whatsoever would you expect them to perform to the same level.
For sometime now contractors and builders merchants out there have assumed that because of the pricing structure 20 years ago our pricing wouldn't be competitive however customer feedback shows this theory is incorrect as we are now cheaper and provide the legitimate product, which lets face it once Brexit is concluded will become even cheaper against the systems they currently import. On the face of it these companies will have you believe that they support British however this isn't the case at all and this will catch up with them by the end of the year.
The crazy thing we see is that buyers and/or purchasing departments are falling for this and these are trained 'professionals' - I wonder if they would buy a fake product outside of the work environment for themselves? I'd guess that the answer is most certainly not so why do they find it acceptable in the day to day work environment. The people in these roles need to question themselves and accept responsibility for lazy methods - Do your homework first!!
Here are some key reasons why Spur? cannot be matched:
- Uprights that we manufacture to this very day has an identical pitch to what was first manufactured in 1952, nowhere else can match this, to which our trademark has had millions of pounds spent on.
- Our weight bearings (safe working load) is 100% more than that of the cheap and nasty alternate options that are supplied.
- Spur? is specified by architects and industry professionals due to the 'badge of quality' that has been built since the 1950's
- Our system is manufactured in the UK and our materials are sourced from UK suppliers - extremely important with Brexit looming.
- Spur? can also manufacture systems to meet any bespoke sizes and/or requirements something that cannot be adhered to elsewhere, we can even offer bespoke colours as we have numerous paint plants on our production site and yes even our powder coat is sourced in the UK
- Spur? is pre-treated before powder coating to guarantee that once powder coated it adheres properly to the steel.
The conclusion to this article is simple... Don't get done by the 'Del Boy' traders out there. The companies selling the imitation products won't tell you this however numerous customers have reported to us of horror stories that the cheap systems they believed (falsely and fraudulently sold) to be ours were falling off the walls and going rusty due to not being treated and tested correctly - ask yourself this and I'll let you decide: Would you put the non legitimate system above your loved ones heads?
