The "Build/Buy/Borrow" Edition

The "Build/Buy/Borrow" Edition

With AI going this fast, you can't do it alone. You need to partner.

This is how I like to think about it and explain it:

And, in a shocking turn of events, I will be using a LEGO metaphor, with memories of some of my favourite LEGO builds ever

1. Buy:

This is like buying a LEGO set that comes with a box and instructions. You open it and start using it almost immediately. Example: Chat-GPT or Microsoft Co-Pilot.

2. Build:

Imagine your data as individual LEGO bricks that need to be organized in a meaningful way. You can use an open-source LLM, and train it to analyze your data and turn it into actionable intelligence. Example: Bloomberg GPT.

3. Borrow:

Think of it as stacking your data on top of a partially built Lego structure. I.e. integrate your data with pre-built AI solutions, tailored to a specific industry. Example: SalesForce Einstein Co-Pilot. (You can also call-it Co-Build, but I'm a marketer, so just looooooveeeeee a good triple B!)

This is of course a simplistic view and there are several nuances. But bear with me, as after all...

"I'm just a (simple) boy".

"In front of a (newsletter) audience."

"Asking them to... read my AI stuff."

WHILE I HAVE YOU, I want to ask a favor: We're almost at 4k subscribers to the World's Smallest AI Newsletter. If you been finding value on it (for 1 minute), will you send it today to a friend that would benefit from subscribing?

See you next week.

love the lego analogy Marco, and my bet would be that, as the cost of building goes up, we will see more and more "plain vanilla" solutions, adapted to our data and needs.

Didn't have you down as a AFOL, Marco ;) Great analogy, beautifully illustrated.
