Did you know that...
Let's work on closing the gender and network gap on LinkedIn.? Let's #embraceequity
Tips to start today by amplifying women's voices on LinkedIn:
??Celebrate and acknowledge the women in your life who have inspired you, helped you grow, supported you and mentored you.
??Highlight their expertise or accomplishments by spotlighting them in your posts.
??Share or comment on their posts.
??Make introductions and connect them with people in your network.
??Write recommendations, endorse their skills.
??Refer them for job openings, for leadership or board positions.
??Promote and support their businesses and services.
??Give them kudos.
Do you have anything to add? Let me know in the comments.
New York Congressperson Shirley Chisholm was one of the first women who spoke about a seat at the table in the1970s with her famous quote
“If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”
But sometimes even a folding chair at a table may not really give you the opportunities you want.
So why not instead build your own table?
What does building your own table mean?
It definitely does not include waiting to be invited
BUT
creating your own platform to:
?? share your thought leadership or perspectives,
?? amplify your voice
?? build your audience
?? create impact and influence
?? get the opportunities and career success you deserve
YOU CAN BUILD YOUR OWN TABLE RIGHT HERE ON LINKEDIN
Here are the 5 pillars or should I say legs to create and build it
Your LinkedIn profile is your 24/7 digital billboard. It is indexed by Google and other search engines and is usually the first thing that people see when they search for your name.
So it's important to not just have a completed profile but optimize it to truly showcase your personal brand and expertise.
2. CONNECTIONS
Create a powerful network.
Have a strategy when you connect.
PRO-TIPS
? Don't focus on the metrics, the numbers.?
? Don't accept every connection request or connect randomly so you can increase the number of followers on your profile.
? Quality comes before quantity.
? Build your network of people who are thought leaders in your industry, people who you want to partner or work with, people who could be your potential clients or have a network that are your potential clients.
3. CONTENT
Share your insights, perspectives and thought leadership. LinkedIn has a variety of content options - text, text plus image, document posts, polls, videos.
Also remember not everyone in your network is active on the platform.?
There are people who will consume your content but not necessarily react or comment on it.

So if you don't get much engagement on your posts, don't let that stop you from sharing your expertise.
Be consistent, be patient, create content that will benefit and help your target audience and the opportunities will come.
4. CONVERSATIONS
Initiate and spark insightful conversations.
You can do this in the DMs or on comments on your posts or on people's posts that are in your niche or area of expertise, that inspire you are or who you want to nurture relationships.
TIP
Don't just post and ghost!
5. EVENTS
Elevate and amplify your voice, expertise and offers as well as the voices of other leaders, your peers, and those who have been marginalized through LinkedIn Lives, LinkedIn Audio Events or through external events with event pages created on LinkedIn.
You need to have Creator Mode turned on to be able to host LinkedIn Lives and Audio events.
PRO - TIP
Always be strategic as you build and grow your table on LinkedIn

NEW FEATURE
Have you seen this new LinkedIn feature or update ?
If you are building or have built your table on LinkedIn, this will elevate your content and help it stand out, showcase your expertise and thought leadership and makes it easier for others to discover.
LinkedIn has enhanced our activity tab to make our content even more visible.
As you can see from the image, this new activity tab categories almost every activity we do on the platform into "Posts", "Comments", "Videos", "Images", "Articles", "Newsletter", and "More" which lists "Events" and "Documents in the drop down box.
You will only see the tabs for the activity you have created or been active on for the last 365 days.
This really simplifies things on the platform whether you are looking at your activity or someone else's.
You can also choose the content type your activity shows first on your profile by clicking on the pen icon.
Prior to this new tab feature, you could only see Activity on a profile, not any of the tabs.
And when you clicked on "Show All Activity"?in this section it would pull up four tabs, "All Activity", "Articles", "Posts", "Documents".
I also did a shot explainer video on this new activity tab. You can watch it here
