Build your business profile through regular and engaging content in 2017

Content is key to getting your business noticed online no matter how large or small.

The creation and distribution of content have become a significant aspect of effective marketing and commands a high position in the strategy conversation in almost every business. Some might go as far as to suggest content marketing has become the most efficient means to build a business.

Five types of content that you can easily create and spread in 2017.

Blog posting

A blog can become an essential element of your content marketing strategy. There are many different types of blogs that you can write, from editorial blogs that present commentary on industry topics to educational posts that provide readers with actionable advice such as how to build a content calendar. You can also consider creating guest blogs from external experts to pull in new audiences. Keeping your blogs relevant to your audience is important.

Social media

Social media allows businesses a cost-effective and an efficient way of engaging with their target audience, but you do have to treat each platform individually, social media is not a one-size-fits-all tool. Content that works very well on Facebook, for example, might not function well on LinkedIn.

Video

We are now in the digital age, so it's important for businesses to share content via different mediums. Videos are great for tutorials, explanations, instructions and training. A YouTube channel provides another platform to interact with your audience, and you'll also be able to share the videos across your social media channels.

Newsletters and Magazines

Content marketing is about building relationships with your audience. Building a valuable email list is an important task for business. A regular digital publication helps you create a list that is relevant to your business – a list of people who are interested in your products or services. Once it's up and running, you can use it to share breaking news, for offers and launches, and to inform and educate.

Guides and Tutorials

Creating a guide or tutorial for a topic that's relevant in your industry will position you as a thought-leader in your field. This type of content is very shareable, and you can also share it with industry press so that they link back to your website and boost your search engine optimisation.

Written content does not exist without authors, whether constructing 140-character posts or 1000-word articles. Not only do you want people who can write well (e.g., obvious points, proper spelling, and grammar, active voice), you need writers and team members who can think strategically about the content that will resonate most with your audience. Also, marketers should take note of the growth of video within social and mobile channels and look for ways to invest further in video content, and create an engaging experience for users on mobile devices. The ROI of social marketing is still on the rise and data shows that video content will certainly lead to better results than non-video content. You do not need to go to great lengths to create videos for YouTube. Even a small budget with an inexpensive video camera or smartphone camera will go a long way if you do not have the means to allow more resources. A great solution would be to engage and collaborate with a local media collage or uni, and you would be surprised how capable and driven students can be to deliver not only engaging content but creative viral as well.

Spot on. All our students' work is uploaded to a blog that is published effectively world wide, making it live and current; even at level 1. Whether we like it or not, social media, web presence, blogs, videos/vlogs et al, need to be an integral component of all companies regardless of size. Customers like to engage with human beings so some basic video content and live website data is crucial I believe to build and maintain relationships.
