What is the driving mission behind your business or work?
My driving mission is to use my expertise in marketing and UX design to influence the way that modern-day business is carried out. Through my work with clients, we avoid fabricating user needs for the sake of profit – which in my opinion, is a much more ethical and sustainable approach to marketing.
What are some common marketing clichés that you find overused or frustrating, and why?
The most frustrating belief about marketing is that fear-based messaging is an ideal way to get a user or customer to take the action that you want them to. Tactics surrounding scarcity and FOMO are equivalent to professional bullying, and they have no place in my work with clients.
Why is conscious marketing important to you?
Because it is contagious. Marketers are so involved in most aspects of modern-day business, from collaborations with the C-suite, to creatives, and everyone in between. They also tend to be leaders and trusted people. If every marketer was more conscious, it is my belief that others would follow.
What do you hope people will get out of the "Conscious Marketing in Practice" virtual event?
I hope that we can generate consciously aligned actions that we can all take into our unique areas of the industry. Marketing is broad and diverse. If a brand strategist, a communications specialist, and a performance analyst all agreed on one actionable strategy of how to improve the industry, wouldn’t that be incredible?
For someone new to conscious marketing who’s planning to attend the event, what resources would you suggest to help them prepare?
I would suggest for them to ask themselves why they want to attend. This way, they can come prepared with thought-provoking questions that may enhance or widen the perspective of the more seasoned conscious marketers in the room. Diversity is key and all are welcome.
