Build Your Blog Audience

Build Your Blog Audience

Blogging is still a popular way to get your story heard in your own words… But how to do it well?

By hosting your blogs on your website, you’ll ensure that it remains fresh and relevant, keeps search engines interested, and attracts a steady stream of visitors.

You do need to make sure people know the blog is there, and social media is perfect for doing this.

Here are our top three tips for building a following for your blogs using social media:

  1. If you’re using several different social media platforms, address the audience in the right way. Promoting your blog to friends on Facebook needs a different approach to promoting it on LinkedIn to business contacts. Think carefully about the tone and language you use and adapt it accordingly.
  2. Each platform offers different opportunities – be aware of the number of characters, length of video and size of images allowed on each.
  3. How communities interact with various formats also differs. For example, using multiple hashtags works well for Twitter and Instagram, but not on Facebook or LinkedIn.

Using a range of social media platforms is a great way to drive traffic to your blog and website. However, tailor the message to the platform so you don’t miss out on the chance to engage with your audience.

Think about your own expectations of various social media channels – and remember that the audience on each one is different.
