After 3 years of hard work and effort, the team at Multiplex have reached Practical completion on S P Setia – a new iconic building on the corner of Exhibition and La Trobe Streets.

The two towers of S P Setia reach 232 and 220 meters up into the sky and comprise a 500-room Shangri-La Hotel and 324 luxury apartments.

A 24-hour concrete pour was required to deliver the project - one of the longest pours in Melbourne's history!

Words that got us thinking:

“The key to this is the property industry. That’s the missing piece of the puzzle. And it surprises me how slow the property industry has been to cotton on that this is going to be a multi-billion dollar industry.”

A recruitment update from Martin:

Can you hear that sound?

It's the distant call of jingle bells, heralding the downing of tools and final drinks at the Christmas 'do. We're nearly at the finish line. And with just four weeks left of the working year, the recruitment market shows zero signs of slowing down.

Sure, there are casualties in the residential home building space – but the people leaving their posts are quickly finding new employers. It's a candidate's market, for sure.

Commercial builders remain absolutely flat out. So they're aggressively seeking staff – especially Contract Administrators, Site Managers, Coordinators and Engineers. They're doing everything they can to ensure they have enough human resources on-site to finish the job and maintain their wafer-thin margins.

Slight concerns remain from candidates across the built environment over conditions in 2023. But with the festive season looming, there appears to be little let up in demand for talent! Candidates may be in for a favourable new year after all.

If you’re thinking about pausing recruitment until next year – don’t! We’re available to help you find those last good people before the out-of-office notifications are turned on for the summer break.

Browse our list of candidates, or contact Martin Preece to discuss a recruitment solution to suit your business.

And if you’re considering a career move, check out these roles available now.
