BUILD NEW CITIES.....

Mega Cities have become the real threat to human population. These have been attracting millions of people from various parts of lands but unfortunately they have created hell lot of troubles than actually serving them all. Logically speaking, it is impossible to serve such a large number of people as the resources and space ratio is badly disturbed in mega cities. Main disturbing factors are as under:

1- Due to high frequency of movement in a congested area, the time constraints affect the natural growth badly. The roads are usually blocked or the traffic movement speed is very low. People are unable to reach their destination in time. So this is a very big loss to economy. The consistent growth is not possible because of this natural constraint in this.

2-Education, Food, Health facilities although are promised in a very high pitch of voice are usually not reached to the masses and serve only few. The maintenance of standard and quality of above mentioned facilities is also a big issue. An ordinary person's voice is not heard at top level and the manipulation of resources and funds becomes a day to day affair. Which is another hit to the masses.

3-The political games flourish much more in mega cities and million of bucks are used for the campaign with an interest in winning in a mega city, which ultimately increases the benefits level of the political elites. The value of property becomes very high and which gives more cash to the mafia's and ordinary people suffer horribly as a result.

4-The gangs and mafias start building their network much easier in mega cities in contrast to small cities where they can easily be traced by the governing bodies. Also one can argue that these governing bodies may also go corrupt. But still common man's voice is more easily reached to the top in small cities than the larger ones.

5-The planning of the city becomes very very difficult in highly populated areas. And it is a very funny but painful situation as the millions of bucks are being paid for plannings in such a case. This is a repetitive cycle and ordinary taxes payers money is robed again and again in a useless way. The selection of the Engineering design team, the execution team, the administration and more similar roles becomes very very difficult to predict whether they are selected on merit or not. Because in the case of mega cities how can ordinary person may even think or judge the capability and capacity of the team. If the team is doing this work for this mega city first time, it is a two way knife. Either they will experiment too much or they will charge more than the justifiable limit. Quite Frankly even the elected representatives of the people will remain handcuffed. They will ultimately go towards technical experts in the field, and when these experts are also doing this study first time for such a big city, you can very well understand the potential danger of this risk taking.

6-Who will purchase and at what cost the private properties in case of any change in master plan of city?????? Will any government be able to spend billions of bucks?

My Question is, why should we do join hands for this big risk. Can we let cities like Karachi /Lahore /Hyderabad/ Faisalabad/ Multan and even Islamabad keep expanding untill it sucks of our last breath and we reach and non returnable position. We are in fact already in extremely dangerous position. Such examples can be quoted for Delhi, Calcutta and many similar neighboring cities. Skyscrapers is no solution, do u agree with me. Why don't we can go for the simplest of solutions. They are not cost free but at least they provide necessary hope for our future generations.

Build New Cities at well calculated distances equally distributed in various parts of countries.

1-If you are going to build a city keep in view next hundred years population say 2 to 4 million. I am sure we have good experts in our field to carry quality surveys in estimated time limit and suggest better ways of building a modern city. The cost of architectural and structural design is obviously much lower than the remodeling of existing mega city.

2-The government has to plan, buy necessary portions of land, establish administrative sections, and other government functions. But after initial work the business community, builders will start taking their roles for their own interest and astonishing results can be expected after masses purchasing pieces of lands for their residential and commercial activities. Also where there is population the laborers reach there naturally.

3-New universities, new hospitals, play grounds, community areas, green areas, roads and transportation systems are constructed with cheaper purchase of land and also without any potential hurdle for the same.

4-The ordinary people having a concept of peaceful life may wish to establish their businesses or services or get jobs in fresh and pollution free areas ultimately.

5-The law and order system will be improved. The transportation will become easier and speedy from home to business and even for travelling to other cities.

First big step will be to understand the value of this concept. Secondly to include this in our countries master plan, and begin from somewhere.

As it is difficult to cover all aspects of dangers of living in mega city vis-a-vis its benefits. I am sure you will review this humble effort and contribute your inputs for further elaboration.
