I Was About To Say…
Practice listening. When the mind jumps ahead in expectation of what we are going to add to the conversation when it’s our turn to speak, we tend to miss important points and nuances because we are not really present. And as a result, we may unintentionally project our thoughts on others, as opposed to responding mindfully to their comments. Consider challenging yourself to sit back and listen while others discuss. Notice what is being activated in your mind and in your body. Do you feel tension anywhere as you quietly listen? See if you can wait for an invitation to speak. How does the waiting feel? What thoughts do you notice? You can actually learn a lot about yourself with this little listening experiment!
