Our K2 Elite Community ended 2023 on a high note with our final Mastermind event of the year… The Freedom Formula: Leadership + Culture x Scale = Freedom.?

We were joined by a stellar lineup of speakers: Holly Ransom, Jacinta McDonell, Ken Whitters & Ross Anderson ??

A highlight of the event was the workshop by Ken & Ross from Strategic Leadership.

Since 2004, Strategic Leadership has been working with individuals, teams, and organisations to help them achieve success in their current circumstances and positioning for the future.

Ross Anderson is a highly experienced designer, developer, and facilitator of leadership development initiatives and an executive coach.?


Ken Whitters specialises in developing organisational and individual capability through coaching, training, and consulting.

Building a high-performing team starts with creating a high-performance culture.?

The killers of a high-performance culture are:?

  1. Absence of trust?
  2. Fear of hard conversations
  3. Lack of commitment?
  4. Avoidance of accountability?
  5. Not being outcome-focused

TRUST is the fundamental building block in building a high-performing team.

Strong trust looks like:

  • Team members who understand each other's core values, background, and strengths
  • They are prepared to admit weaknesses/mistakes and tap into each other's expertise
  • They demonstrate they have the best interest of others in mind

To build trust in your organisation you must build ‘Psychological Safety’. This is where people feel safe to communicate openly, share their strengths and weaknesses, and take risks around each other.

With trust comes the ability to have FEARLESS CONVERSATIONS. Many people avoid having difficult conversations because they fear conflict but giving each other feedback and challenging ideas healthily is critical to high performance.?

This leads to COMMITMENT. If people feel as though they can speak freely and are being heard they will feel a sense of authentic commitment.?

Strong commitment looks like:

  • Team members being clear and aligned on direction and priorities
  • They reliability meet their promises
  • They embody the values and ideals of the organisation

Authentic commitment drives ACCOUNTABILITY.?

Strong accountability looks like:

  • Team members who are concerned with letting the team down
  • They step up and take ownership of their results
  • They share the blame for missed objectives and call out unproductive behaviours

Accountable team members deliver the best results because they are focused on OUTCOMES and are motivated by their intrinsic drive.

Strong outcomes focus looks like:

  • Team members who are passionate about achieving great results
  • They keep regular check on how themselves and the greater team are meeting goals
  • They regularly celebrate their wins
