Build baby, build!
When Trump won the election in 2016 I was inconsolable.
I felt it deeply – shock, outrage, fear, anger, sadness, powerlessness, hopelessness… .
But it was also an incredible wake up call.
Trump is popular because he speaks directly into people’s worst fears about one another.
He creates the proverbial enemy and then tells you that he can protect you from it.
At first I thought, “how can anyone fall for this?”
But then I realized… “Oh my god we’re WIRED to fall for this.”
This is human nature. Science has PROVEN that fear is a more powerful motivator than compassion or love.
Even people who preach “love thy neighbor” are typically more inclined to buy guns and shoot their neighbor than to actually love them.
Love is harder than fear. Just like dieting is harder than eating whatever you want.
But human nature is only half of the equation
Because we have CHOICE. It’s the sexiest, most incredible tool we possess.
The greatest power you will ever feel in life is when you’re consciously choosing your beliefs, your values, and your trajectory.
I’m not saying your circumstance is easy or great. In fact, it might be hard and terrible.
And yet, you have choices in front of you for what to believe and where to go next.
I will choose love over fear until the day I die.
I discovered this after Trump was elected in 2016.
3 months after he was sworn into office, I hired my first life coach who has since become a mystical hippie witch of some sort (highly recommend!).
4 months after that, I quit my corporate job and started a company.
1 month after that we bought a home and got domestic partnered.
I built passionately and with intention for 7 years straight.
I hit rock bottom over and over.
Through all of this, I became an absolute FORCE OF NATURE.
I become unbreakable.
But I didn’t become unbreakable by getting more rigid.
I did it by softening my heart even more.
You cannot break a heart that has been so tenderized by life and loss.
This is the invitation for you! You can do this too.
You can absolutely choose your values and your beliefs and then build a business + career that reflects your greatest potential as a human being.
That is what we’re here for, folks!
Whether you start today or you start 4 years from now when the next president strolls into office, the journey and the work will remain the same.
