Build à Bubble

Build à Bubble

“You know, it was the pandemic and we had some time after our classes.” Says Divyansha Sohnvi .

She is the co-founder of Build a Bubble India. Now while you read the name of this business, it quips you to think what that means and what they do right? Sure, so Build a Bubble India creates beautiful and aesthetic soaps and makes them gift-worthy. They operate primarily on Instagram.

There are so many things that we come across in our retail exposure, but soaps? Really?!

Yes!!!?

She recollects how the idea bubbled (pun intended).

“You know, it was the pandemic and we had some time after our classes.”

Like many of us, she too was looking to improve her profile and gain experience to enhance her resume. On a random day of exploration, she comes across an advertisement for a soap-making workshop. This caught her attention because she had attended a similar workshop on chocolate making and loved it. After the soap-making workshop, she went down the street, picked up the ingredients and made her first soap, as raw looking as ever. But still, something she made herself.?

It was fun to do, you could add anything you wanted, any fragrance of your choice be it rose water or coffee seeds and so on. But she did not stop there, she saw a business opportunity and made what she loved into her business. And that’s how Build a Bubble India was born.?

Yes yes, I know I am stalling on how the name came about. When we think of gifting options, do we think of gifting a soap? I highly doubt it. Imagine walking up to your birthday friend and placing in his palms a Santoor soap and maybe to add on, the classic blue and white Santoor pen. Sure, he’d be relieved of your contact soon and next year obviously no need for a gift. But Divyansha thought differently and made this her USP.

What if you’d gift a soap that looks so pleasing that as you walk past by, it tempts you to just have a glance or a whiff? The packaging delivers an experience more than the product. Who thinks of having cute-looking soaps? The closest I have gotten to fancying a soap is the translucency of Pears. The entire gift is having a visual appeal of emotion. So then when you use the soap, it defiantly is an experience rather than just a soap. (Can I say gifted soap?)

On talking about the product, they adhere to FSSAI rules and all of their products are chemical-free. And they have always been that way, for from the inception their values held onto being organic. Now slowly many customers are looking for healthier options and that puts Build a Bubble India in the front. She believes that along with the experience of the entire product, the primary element of the product is its quality. If the quality is below the bar, no matter how heavy the beautification, it will fail.

“The mark of a good product is when customers are ready to make a repeat purchase.” Says Divyansha.

Oh! You want to know how they came about the name? Okay, let me burst the bubble. (you see what I did there!)

So, did you hear of Build-A-Bear Workshop ? No? Okay, so Build-A-Bear Workshop Build a Bear is a store which allows you to make your own teddy bear. Starting from the size, the fur colour, the packaging and so on and even naming. By the time you leave the store, you leave with ‘your’ bear, literally.?

Having known about this, Divyansha knew that it had to have something with the name. She did not want to add ‘soap’ in the name, because…well you know. Cliché! While lathering around the name, she came up with ‘bubble’ which is…cute and also very ‘soapy’!. So then was born, Build a Bubble India!!!

Talking about how she has to manage her 9-5 job along with her business on Instagram, she says that it is hard and demands determination. There are times when her friend, the other founder of the business, Dhruv Sethi and she have to burn the midnight oil to be able to fulfil the heavy load of incoming orders. Although, at times when the load is just too much, they hire on a contractual basis.

They use Paytm for Business to manage all of their finances making it clear how much they earn and so on. They plan to expand and grow their presence onto major platforms like Amazon but express concern over the cut that they will lose. Nevertheless, there are many cards on the table.?

On asking her how she stays ahead of the market, she says that as time passes we tend to grow more and learn more with all that is happening around us and with us because the situations teach us how to deal with and handle all that comes your way. Sooner or later, you will get around the market.?

Finally, I asked her what 3 tips from her experience she would give to aspiring entrepreneurs.

  • It is NOT easy!
  • Consistency is the key!
  • On social media platforms, be tech-savvy.

It's okay, I know you are thinking about the rhyme scheme.

Well, that was my 30 minutes with Divyansha Sohnvi , Co-Founder of Build a Bubble India.

Thank you so much!

Divyansha Sohnvi
