So, I'm gonna make this a short story rather than an article on 'What's a Bug and/or What's really a Defect'.
So it all started way back in '95 when I noticed a ray of light as I was born. Nah don't worry, I'm kidding. So a few hours back, I was talking to a colleague and instantly 'What's a Bug and/or Defect' popped up out of nowhere?? - Nah, out of SDLC-World into our conversations. Despite the similarity of these terms, there is a difference between them.
What is a Bug?
A BUG is an error in the software that causes it to malfunction OR A BUG alters the behavior of the software and the software does not function as expected.
What is a Defect?
A DEFECT is a flaw in a product that reduces its usability or value OR If the feature does not work as per the user’s requirements, then it is termed as a DEFECT.
Simple? Isn't it.
It got me super curious, when I thought of Error, Failure and Fault... Ugh!!! maybe I'll write up in another article.
Stay tuned..
