Buffalo-born photographer: Lasting image of officer who gave life on duty

My column today for The Buffalo News recalls the moment in July when Shannon Davis, a Buffalo-born photographer, captured what she thought were a couple of casual yet moving images of Buffalo K-9 Officer Craig Lehner. Those photos took on a whole new power,a new level of meaning, after Lehner, a police diver, died while training in the powerful Niagara River.
