Budgeting: Empowerment on Your Terms

Budgeting: Empowerment on Your Terms

Contrary to popular belief, budgeting is a means to an end – that end being your financial freedom. People who recognize this and implement it in their life are usually the most successful financially. They realize that creating a budget isn’t just about paying off debt or taking care of bills. It is a way of life. There is a method to the madness, and once you have fully adapted to it, it won’t seem all that crazy anymore. And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that some of your colleagues earn more than you, are more educated or work for a more reputable firm, in a higher paying profession. What is important is to learn how to live within that income, cut out unnecessary expenses, and accomplish all the goals you want. All goals require planning, organization, and dedication in order to be accomplished. Budgeting is the tool to achieve all your goals.

In the process of creating and implementing a budget plan, you will realize that every penny counts. A few dollars here and there is what eventually sums up to a large enough amount to be able to pay for that skill-enhancing course you wanted to pursue or provide the investment for your new business endeavor. Success is in the details. This will ensure that you can live the life you dreamed of here and now. Budgeting allows you to design the lifestyle you want. Instead of having to live the lifestyle your finances dictate, with a budget you can plan for how you want your finances to work for you. A well-planned and effected budget affords you the opportunity to pursue your passions, be that travel or spending time with your family, owning another business or taking time off to research a new story for your next screen play.

The magic of the budget is that you can include your dreams in it and work on making them a reality. It requires work. Nothing comes easy. But the rewards are for you to experience and cherish. That moment when you realize how much your budget has aided in accomplishing all those goals you had planned for is priceless. The sense of achievement that accompanies it and the understanding of the fact that yes, this is possible and can be repeated over and over again in your lifetime is remarkable. Of course, none of this will happen overnight. But persistence and dedication to owning your life and living it the way you want to is key. You keep working on a project, eventually it comes to fruition. You keep working on the budget you have created for yourself, you will finally witness success. Your dreams and goals will be different from others.

Sometimes the decisions you take financially to the path to a wealthy life will not be the same as your friends. But you will have to decide based on your goals what the best tactics are to ensure your financial freedom. With a budget as your tool, you can have it all. Budgeting gives you control over your life instead of your money controlling you. Being aware of and recognizing where your money goes and what it is doing for you is a big part of understanding how budgets work and affect your life. When you are able to discern if a certain financial transaction is going to assist with conforming to your budget or not, you are taking on the core of what it is to budget – to understand if a certain service or a product is a need or a want.

I address the needs vs. wants dilemma, provide many case studies and lifestyle stories, and share multiple resources for you to head straight onto the path of financial freedom in my book ‘Budgeting is More Liberation than Limitation’ paperback available on June 2nd. I hope you will pick up a copy and allow me to show you the many ways in which budgeting is going to liberate you. If you provide a comment below, you could be the lucky winner receiving a free copy of the book!

I think I really "need" this book...I have to see how you address "the needs vs wants" dilemma. I also can see so many parallels to budgeting my time. Have an awesome day and thanks for all you do!

Hola buenos días, estoy de acuerdo con usted, dicho con mis palabras si uno no sabe lo que se está ganando no sabe cuánto se puede gastar y ahí viene el descalabro financiero, y no se puede alcanzar lo que se sue?a.
