BTYS Bootcamp - over for another year - early finish due to snow!

BTYS Bootcamp - over for another year - early finish due to snow!

Unfortunately for us in BT and the students we have to finish the 2018 Bootcamp 36 hours early due to the inclement weather in Dublin.

But thankfully we got a chance to listen to the six teams present and wow they were brilliant! For teams of students that only started working together on Monday morning they did brilliant pitches. The winning team was made up of 4 students from schools in Kildare, Kerry, Limerick and Cork.

Congratulations to TY students Emilie Donaghyn from St Wolstan's Community School and Darragh Twomey from Colaiste Treasa Kanturk and 5th year students Oran O'Donoghue from Coláiste Bhréanainn and Jack Murtagh from Crescent College Comprehensive, the individual winner was Sara Sara Rafter from Wesley College, Dublin. The winning project was one that originated from this year’s BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition where some of the students had carried out a field study to increase food production in a sustainable manner to help with world hunger. They treated barley with a specific strain of bacteria and found it increased the yield of varieties of the crop especially barley.

Thanks to all my colleagues in BT and Caroline Gill in UCD along with our judges who walked through the snow to get to evaluate the pitches today and all the wonderful speakers throughout the week. @John Loftus

Very unlucky with the weather but my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the experience & learned a lot from it. Many thanks to all involved for giving her such a great learning opportunity!

Pity about the early finish Mari but I've no doubt all the attendees still got to both enjoy and learn from the great agenda you had put together.

Still a fantastic event regardless of early finish.
