BTOM: A Shopping Bag Breakdown - How Will Different Goods Be Affected?

BTOM has arrived. As of today (31 January), new SPS rules will now apply for goods entering the UK from the EU. This comes as the first phase of new import rules being implemented under the government's Border Target Operating Model. In this video, IOE&IT Executive Editor William Barns-Graham takes us through the new SPS risk categories, and how various items in a weekly shop will be affected.
It is important to note that the risk categories attributed to orchids and roses in this video are based specifically on whether the product is a whole plant (as is the case with the orchids featured), or flowers cut from a plant (as is the case with the roses). Orchid plants are classed as high-risk but cut orchid flowers are medium risk. Rose plants are also high-risk, with cut rose flowers being classed as low-risk when from the EU, and medium-risk from most other countries.

10 个月The UK imports 86 % of products so this is a natural consequence of Brexit that we as end users need to pay the whole cost of the duties, taxes and costs of transportation.
