Blue Screen Of Despair: CrowdStrike !

The team at CrowdStrike, supposed to be keeping us safe online, almost took everything down with a single update yesterday!

This whole thing got us thinking - our entire world runs on these interconnected systems, and if one tiny patch can cause such a mess, imagine what could happen if something bigger went wrong?

Think about it: what if all government offices used the same Operating System [they do?], and a single error shut everything down or manipulate files like cyber attack? What about something even worse, like a nuclear launch system or a nuclear waste facility relying on the same OS?

The CrowdStrike mess might seem like a joke now, but it highlights a serious problem. Here's how we can fix it:

• Backup Plans for the Worst: We need strong backup plans (BCPs) in place, with custom operating systems that don't rely on just one company. Maybe each country could even have its own special Linux based system? As per Crowdstrike's blog statement only windows OS got affected with this patch and not Mac or Linux! • Patch Updates Slowly: Instead of blasting updates to everyone at once, let's test them on smaller groups first. That way, if there's a problem, we can fix it before it's too late!

The CrowdStrike thing wasn't the end of the world , but it's a wake-up call. We need a more diverse system and plans for when things go wrong. After all, the next glitch might not be a blue screen, but something much bigger.
