BSNL- Why 4G , Why not 5G ?

When most of the world is done with the 4G Networks , Our state owned Operator (BSNL & MTNL) is still struggling to get their share of Spectrum , However the bigger questions is , if this the time to get rolling on 4G or directly jump to bandwagon of 5G,
There are many fundamental difference in 4G and 5G and investing now in 4G without keeping it scalable to 5G will incur huge financial losses to the the Company and Government.
First let us quickly see the major difference in 4G and 5G in terms of Services and then move forward -
If we look at above picture , There are huge difference in 4G and 5G in terms of latencies , Download speeds , Service vertical supported and building a Green Field 4G Network now is a waste of time and Money.
Most of the Global Operator has either started building their 5G networks or upgrading their 4G Networks towards 5G.
5G has much more capabilities than 4G and it can serve more industries , better users experience, enhanced data rates , IoT Enabled , serving Smart Cities so in my Opinion 5G is going to be the key technology for the future and an investment on that can yield better results.
Few things which BSNL can do (of course with the support of Govt and regulatory bodies like DoT , TRAI etc ) -
1) Building a 5G (or 5G ready ) Networks instead of a pure play 4G Network
2) Target more market segments like Retail , Industrial Automation , Enterprise customers , Smart City missions etc
3) Convert their abandoned real estate into Next-Gen data centers
4) Improving the consumer experience in terms of Service, Coverage , Capacities etc
However to do all these things they need a very aggressive management and a great support by Govt. and related agencies and last but not the least "no favoritism for Private players"

3 年It's fine, but what makes it more hactic is the untimely blackout. All of a sudden the network begins to be gone completely, leading to not able to connect or have a conversation. With fiber cable there were still hopes, but it still goes in aires when there is an ongoing call and the network drops abruptly. Have there been a consistency in providing just a basic yet throurough brakeless network connection, it would have been much better. Just as always, looking for a brighter sunshine.
