When a business becomes a B Corp, as a collective we get bigger, better, bolder and more impactful. Every new addition is further proof that businesses thrive when they act for people and the planet. The first #1000xUKBCorps have brought us a thousand times closer to achieving our vision of creating an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. Together, we’re #1000xBetter, and we’re just getting started... ??
The UK B Corp movement has over 50,000 employees in over 58 industries. We can create much greater impact together, than we can alone — we must use our collective power to create the world we want to see, at the urgent speed required in order to meet the challenges of climate and social breakdown.?
The Bshirt was born when friends, Lisa and Philippa, discovered that there were no products that allowed them to simply adapt their existing clothes for breastfeeding. When Philippa noticed a top that Lisa had sewn herself, a lightbulb went off. Undaunted by lack of experience, Lisa and Philippa launched their clothing brand. The Bshirt began trading in Feb 2017 and has since achieved rapid growth since.
Bshirts are intentionally designed to adapt a woman's existing clothes to be breastfeeding friendly by being worn as a layer under normal clothes. In this way, customers are able to buy fewer breastfeeding clothes, saving them money. They also report that the Bshirt design helps them to feel more comfortable breastfeeding in front of other people as there is less on show. Our Social Enterprise’s Mission is to empower women to breastfeed confidently in public whilst reducing maternity clothing waste.

We are unique in that we are an advocate of Slow Fashion amongst our Fast Fashion competitors. Our new Maternity collection will allow us to expand our market segment, ultimately increasing our turnover. Because we are using recycled cotton, we will consume 30% fewer raw materials. The benefits of recycled cotton to the environment are measurable and widespread. The benefit to our business is a circular business model as we expand with new products, new fabrics and new customers.?
This circular business model will support our plans towards a step-change in our supply chain as we shift all future production to recycled cotton and ultimately aim to recycle our old products back into fibres. We are in the perfect position to become a fully circular maternity fashion brand in order to consume less, and sell better.
Let’s work together to be a force for good. ??
