No BS Career Advice: August 7 2024

I may not be an economist but I read the jobs report issued by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics each month and the news was universally bad.

Unemployment has increased by .8% over the past year. The number of unemployed people has increased from 5.9 million to 7.2 million. The number of new jobs created was 114000 down from an average of 259000. If BLS statisticians act as they have in 10 of the past 12 months, the number of new jobs created will be revised downward.

This is my way of affirming that it is rough out there, no matter what your family, friends, or former colleague tells you about how someone they know just found a new job.

I also want to remind you that you just need one.
