Bryan
Dr. Tim Whatley, played by Bryan Cranston, had one of the funniest scenes on the iconic TV show, Seinfeld.
In the scene, Jerry Seinfeld was nervously sitting in a dentist chair waiting to undergo a procedure that required laughing gas.
As it was written and initially rehearsed, Bryan's character was supposed to just sit down and immediately apply the mask to Jerry's face.
After a few takes, everyone took a break and an electrician on the set approached Bryan and said, "You know what would make that scene funnier, if you were to take a hit of the laughing gas first."
Bryan immediately thought the idea was brilliant.
When they resumed filming, he tried the electrician's idea and scene was immediately ruined by Jerry Seinfeld's uncontrollable laughter.
(Jerry composed himself after a few more takes and the scene was ultimately filmed with the Dr. Whatley "testing" the laughing gas.)
What's the lesson here?
Bryan could've scoffed at the advice from the random stranger on set.
However, his ego didn't get in the way of being open to an idea that was better than his own.
Let the best ideas win - no matter where they come from.
(Just make sure you give credit where credit is due.)
