Brushes, Birthdays, and Big Wins: November Highlights at Cottam ??
As the festive season draws near, we’ve been keeping busy at Cottam with some exciting projects, celebrations, and milestones! From raising money for important causes to contributing to becoming Made In Britain award winners, it’s been a whirlwind of activity.
In this edition, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our recent innovations, collaborations, and events—including a nod to tradition and some proud achievements.
Heritage Meets Innovation ??
We’re thrilled to announce Cottam has been named Made in Britain - official Heritage Manufacturer for 2024! Recognised among 2,100 members, this award reflects our journey from crafting brushes for the shipyards in 1858 to delivering custom solutions for industries worldwide today. Susan Stewart and Chelsie Brown proudly accepted the award at West Midlands Safari Park. Thank you for supporting our 166-year journey!
Celebrating Craftsmanship: Keeping Tradition Alive
Innovation may lead our way, but we’ll always cherish our roots. Eddie Moon, our resident expert, recently showcased the timeless art of hand-stitching brushes—a skill that ensures unmatched quality and precision. Keeping this tradition alive is just one way we honour our heritage.

Coffee, Cakes, and a Trip Down Memory Lane
We hosted our annual Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning and raised £170 for this incredible cause. It was a morning of good company, sweet treats, and special memories, as we were honoured by a visit from Doris, who worked at Cottam in the 1940s! Doris turned 98 in September, and it’s always a joy to have her share her stories.
