Brunswick Exploration identifies major spodumene-bearing pegmatite boulder field at the Mirage Project, Eeyou Istchee- James Bay, Québec
On June 14, 2023 Brunswick announced that it has identified a major trend of large spodumene-bearing pegmatite boulders over 1.7km of strike length at the Mirage Project in the Eeyou Istchee-James Bay region of NW Québec. The Mirage Project is situated ~105 km east of Patriot Battery Metals’ Corvette Lithium Project, ~34 km NE of Winsome Resources’ Adina Project and located ~43km south of the Trans-Taiga Highway along Hydro-Québec La Grande hydro-electric complex. Recall on January 24, 2023 Brunswick had announced that it had staked additional claims to generate the Mirage Project which comprised 198 claims (8,884 ha) (https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/eric-lemieux-9468715_quebec-jamesbay-escale-activity-7023697158071607296-orLy?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop). The Mirage Project covers 100%-owned claims, claims under option from Globex Mining Enterprise (option to earn 100% ownership) and claims under option from Osisko Development through General Partnership Osisko Baie James (90% ownership).
?
Positive initial field works for LCT pegmatites: Follow-up field work for spodumene-mineralized boulders, first identified by a geologist nearly 25 years ago, confirmed the presence of over 20 plurimetric spodumene-bearing pegmatite boulders in a band over an up-ice strike length of ~1.7 km. All boulders observed host well-defined, large (up to 50cm) light grey spodumene crystals with mineralization varying between 5 and 50% of the pegmatite. Boulders are sub-angular to sub-rounded containing gangue mineralization typical of LCT-type pegmatites with coarse-grained quartz, rubidium-rich feldspars and muscovite with minor amounts of tourmaline and fluorite. The largest boulder identified to date measures over 6m x 6m x 5m. While the source has not yet been identified, based on the angular shape of boulders, their large size and abundant distribution, the source is interpreted to be proximal and within the Mirage Project boundary. No exploration work for lithium has previously been conducted in the area, and the Mirage claim group stretches up-ice for 18 km from the boulder field.
?
Next Steps: The discovery was made in 2 field days before government-imposed restrictions due to forest fires forced the Brunswick field teams to evacuate the James Bay-Eeyou Istchee region (see: https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/eric-lemieux-9468715_quebec-jamesbay-lithium-activity-7071853884880674817-mdbd?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop). Once restrictions are lifted, Brunswick intends to immediately dispatch its team to continue to advance the project towards the drilling stage. The full strike extent of the boulder field remains undefined with potential for more spodumene-bearing boulders (and their source) to the NE. Based on these results and the potential for additional discoveries, Brunswick shall immediately apply for drilling permits to follow up on the forthcoming 2023 summer field work.
Mr. Killian Charles, President and CEO of Brunswick stated: “With the positive identification of over twenty large spodumene-bearing boulders, the Mirage Project is now a top priority for the Company. The field crew is eager to return as soon as the government-imposed fire restrictions are lifted. I am particularly excited that prospecting rapidly uncovered such large, well mineralized boulders with pale grey spodumene crystals as the Project remains unexplored for lithium. BRW will immediately apply for drill permits with the objective of drilling as rapidly as possible in Q3 once the source(s) of the boulders has been identified”.

Brunswick reported on August 21, 2023 that field crews have successfully extended the length of the spodumene-bearing pegmatite boulder field and saliently discovered several spodumene-bearing pegmatite outcrops since the restart of exploration work following the James Bay fire situation. Brunswick has identified a major trend of large spodumene-bearing pegmatite boulders over now >3km of NE-SW strike length at the Mirage Project in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of NW Québec. The Mirage Project is situated ~105 km east of Patriot Battery Metals’ Corvette Lithium Project, ~34 km NE of Winsome Resources’ Adina Project and located ~43km south of the Trans-Taiga Highway along Hydro-Québec La Grande hydro-electric complex.

Mirage Project Overview: Brunswick Exploration has focused its efforts in the SW portion of the Mirage Project. This initial prospecting campaign identified a total of 9 mineralized outcrop clusters with the largest spodumene-bearing cluster measuring ~80 m wide by 100 m long; all clusters remain open along strike. Most observable dykes are oriented in a SW-NE directions following a major structural trend that runs along the Project area in a similar SW-NE glacial direction, although some dykes show variable strike directions. In total, the trend of boulders and outcrops covers over 5.5 km of strike and remains open in all directions.
To date, 5 significant spodumene-bearing pegmatite dykes have been identified with apparent widths of 25 to 80 m. The strike length of these dykes remains unknown, and field measurements with magnetic data suggest structural complexity and possible variable strike directions to the dykes. Additionally, several thinner mineralized dykes have been identified in the area.
Another 13 km of up-ice prospecting and geological mapping remains to be completed with several more reported pegmatite outcrops to be examined, none of which have been previously evaluated for spodumene content.
?
The mineralized pegmatitic dykes identified to date are predominantly hosted by meta-basalts and amphibolite, and consequently the mineralized boulder and outcrop area shall be covered by airborne LiDAR and magnetic surveys in the next three weeks to hopefully outline the unexposed strike extent of the mineralized dykes.?Over 13 km of favorable geology up-ice from the current discoveries remains untested and next steps at Mirage shall focus on continued prospecting, airborne surveys and the initiation of a drilling program with a minimum of 4,000 m of drilling planned.??

Purchase of Additional Surrounding Claims: Brunswick Exploration has entered into a transaction with 1Minerals Corp.?as well as Osisko Development Corp (through General Partnership Osisko Baie James) to purchase certain claims contiguous to the Mirage Project as well as an additional regional lithium grassroot claim package as it continues to develop the lithium discovery at Mirage.
?
The terms of the transaction with 1Minerals are: 100% interest in claims held by 1Minerals for payments totaling $3.5M within 4-year period and milestone payments of up to $2.25M, in cash, shares or a combination of both at BRW’s discretion and allocation of a 3% Gross Royalty on spodumene concentrate sales, of which the first 1% can be repurchased for $1M and the second 1% can be repurchased for $3M.
?
Brunswick has option to acquire a 75% undivided interest in 8 claims in the immediate area of the Mirage Project from Osisko Development.?The option shall be exercisable concurrently with the successful completion of the existing Option Agreement between Brunswick Exploration and Osisko covering the option to acquire a 90% interest in the PLEX, Anatacau West and Anatacau Main Projects.
