B&R’s Guide Alumni Celebrate 50 Years of Slowing Down

Over the past 50 years, something in the range of 1,300 Butterfield & Robinson guides have hosted travellers around the globe, serving as travel companions, local experts, raconteurs, sommeliers, party-starters and (on more than one occasion at the wee hours of the night) party re-starters.

 So with B&R’s 50th anniversary upon us, we thought there would be no better way to celebrate – and thank our guide alumni for 50 years of service – than with a party. And depending on how things go in the wee hours of the morning, possibly a re-party.   

We’ve reached out to as many former B&R guides as we can find, which isn’t always easy with such a nomadic bunch, and from May 27th to 29th they’ll descend on Toronto for a celebration of 50 years spent slowing down to see the world.

 In true B&R fashion we’ve planned a mix of events – think dinners, cocktail receptions, bike rides and of course, parties – and free time to explore the city and catch up with old friends.

 There will be hugs. There will be old, and in all likelihood, embarrassing stories re-hashed. There will be bisous (especially if the French contingent shows up). There will be laughter. And there will most certainly be Champagne.
