Getting around Scotland is easy and you can opt for driving a hired car, taking a train, coach or if you're the adventurous type why not take a motor bike ? Otherwise, if you're comfortable with a female driver at the helm, let me drive you around...

On arrival at one of the major airports in Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen), you will be greeted by yours truly and because I was a Girl Scout for 22 years, 'I promise to do my best'... Scouts' honour :)

EDINBURGH is obviously a city everyone wants to visit and rightfully because it's Scotland's compact and beautiful, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials. Not to mention the superb choice of international cuisine.

GLASGOW is a port city on the River Clyde in Scotland's western Lowlands. It's famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture, a rich legacy of the city's 18th–20th-century prosperity due to trade and shipbuilding. Today it's a national cultural hub, home to institutions including the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland, as well as acclaimed museums and a thriving music scene.

Depending on the number of days of your trip and obviously your preferences, you will get to tour around this amazing country at its best. Your itinerary would include places like;

STIRLING CITY in central Scotland. At the heart of its old town, medieval Stirling Castle is on a craggy volcanic rock. On the Abbey Craig outcrop, the National Wallace Monument is a 19th-century tower. It overlooks the site of the 1297 Battle of Stirling Bridge, where William Wallace defeated the English. The Battle of Bannockburn Experience has interactive 3D displays on the history of the 1314 conflict.

FALKIRK is a large town in the Central Lowlands of Scotland, historically within the county of Stirlingshire. It lies in the Forth Valley, 23.3 miles north-west of Edinburgh and 20.5 miles north-east of Glasgow. It is famous for the Falkirk Wheel which is a rotating boat lift in Scotland, connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. Together with the towering statue of the Kelpies they are two of Scotland’s most impressive feats of modern design and engineering.

PITLOCHRY this is where I call home ! The Gate-Way to the Highlands and a delightful Victorian village nestling in the Perthshire Highlands amidst some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe with amazing hotels, B&B's, Inns & Castles and Forest Cabins. Famous for its Festival Theatre, salmon ladder, distilleries, woollen shops and not least its Golf Course, Pitlochry is centrally placed for exploring all the scenic routes. Also an opportunity to get an inside look at the secrets of malt whisky making at Blair Atholl and Edradour distilleries and a scrumptious Sunday Carvery at the Atholl Palace Hotel.

FASKALLY WOOD is an extensive woodland area within Tay Forest Park on the banks of Loch Dunmore. Come inside the 'foresters' classroom' and discover a wide range of tree species, some more than 200 years old. The layout of the woodland is largely man-made, having been created in the 19th century in the grounds of Faskally House, which was used as a Forestry Commission school. In the early summer months the Loch within these woods, is infested with water-lillys, a sight for sore eyes and a place for pure meditation.

WHISKY TRAIL be sure to follow at least one Scottish Whisky Trail while you are touring Scotland. As you travel to the various distilleries on these trails, you will gain insight into the world of whisky. Discover how the distilleries use barley, water, yeast and peat ...... to produce what the Scots call the 'Water of Life'.

HOUSE OF BRUAR also known as the Harrods of the Highlands. The House of Bruar has established an unsurpassed reputation for itself as the pre-eminent Scottish country clothing provider in the UK, thanks to their insistence on high-quality goods sourced from world-renowned manufacturers. Traditional heritage Tweeds and fine cashmere coats stand alongside the latest cutting-edge offerings from Barbour, Musto and Aigle. Complementing the Scottish country clothing House of Bruar cultivated an extensive network of local food suppliers who are dedicated to cultivating the very best in fresh produce, whether that’s outstanding Scottish Beef, stunning smoked salmon or even traditionally made jams and confectionaries. Located behind this splendid shopping complex are the Falls of Bruar whcih have been recognised as a spectacular local beauty spot for over 200 years. In fact, on visiting the area in 1787, Robert Burns was inspired to write "The Humble Petition of Bruar Water" as a request to the 4th Duke of Atholl.

Few countries can match Scotland’s dramatic landscapes and either walking, biking, cycling or driving in the country side is a guaranteed relaxed way of enjoying your holiday.

FISHING You will discover a tremendous variety of species when fishing in the hundreds of rivers and lochs around Scotland. From beautiful Highland rivers to secluded island lochs, there are excellent salmon, trout and coarse fishing opportunities in some of the most picturesque areas of the country.

HIGHLAND GAMES is where you would get a warm welcome and a cracking friendly day out! With traditional heavy athletic events like tug-o-war and the caber toss, as well as Highland dance competitions, track and field events, and bag-piping, the games are a spectacle like no other. And it all takes place against a scenic Scottish backdrop right through the months of summer.

MOUNTAINS & LOCHS Scotland is the most mountainous country in the United Kingdom and you can tour around the area north and west of the Highland Boundary Fault is known as the Highlands, which contains the country's main mountain ranges.

A picnic in the countryside is probably one of the first things that springs to mind. Teeming with the wildlife and the magnificent trees of all sizes and species, Scotland’s forests and woodlands are important and diverse habitats. Many of them can trace their origins back thousands of years, making them as much a part of Scotland’s history and folklore as its castles and ancient cities. As you’ll no doubt discover, there is plenty more to these wild woods and fantastic forests than meets the eye.

So, if what you have been reading above tickles your fancy....simply give me a call on 00356 79499449 or email me on [email protected] , let me know your wish list .... and off we go on a magical trip around Scotland !
