Broken Bones.

Broken Bones.

So since the last time I wrote one of these, I found out my Clavicle is broken. Turns out that the fall I had a few weeks ago as I do most weeks was not a usual fall and the muscle pain was actually a broken bone. I put off going to the GP as I was busy with work and if I'm honest the thought that anything was really bad scared me. If you could have seen my face when I was sat staring at the X-ray machine waiting for the radiographer to come in after assessing the scans and they said I had broken my collarbone. Within seconds my OCD went from zero to 100. The lesson, if in pain go and seek medical advice!

Last week the world was shocked by the death of S Club 7 member Paul Cattermole. As a kid S Club 7 and the joy their music provided was one of the few constants in my life. At every talent show, I would put myself forward to sing (badly) a cover of Reach or whatever the latest song by the band was and without fail. No matter how bad I was my peers at school would cheer me on. It's probably one of my most awkward but best memories of school. Seeing everyone cheer me on no matter how rubbish I was, the experience reminded me of the power of community, of coming together.

Heart of Champions is a film I saw today on Netflix and I think it fits well with this topic. The film is about a group of students who "during their last year at an Ivy League college in 1999, a group of friends and crew teammates' lives are changed forever when an army vet takes over as coach of their dysfunctional rowing team".

Watching this film made me think about my You Are The Media Creator Day talk in a little over 2 weeks and how on our own we can make a difference but with teamwork and coming together as the film explores we can make a bigger change.
