Broadcast Evolution to IP (Part-2)
Why not just stick with SDI?
The benefits surely outweigh the possible security concerns that can occur with IP. There's the ability to simply produce larger amounts of extremely high-quality content and be able to stream and cast the same type of content through multicasting to whoever the viewer is much easier. Since most streaming services today are already working on IP systems, one can already see their reach and the benefits that they are able to provide, especially in the arena of self-generated content.
What's really important though, is that it requires an expert installation, setup and maintenance of the main core system and its relevant components to ensure that it becomes as hacker-proof as possible, because that's the last item that you want to have on your mind when doing this entire setup.
Another fantastic item to leave you with is that switching over to IP from SDI will make your entire system completely modular, flexible, scalable and easily future proof for the time being. You can expand and contract as much as is needed, and even work in situations where you only pay according to usage.?
