THE BRITS ARE BRICKING IT!

SCIENTIFICALLY CREATIVE:?A British company has designed a new kind of glass brick that can create electricity using solar power.?The brick can be used to replace windows or other glass in homes and other buildings.?

The inventors at ‘Build Solar’ say the glass bricks look better than solar panels, and take up less space.

The company has recently been awarded money from the UK government to help them develop the solar bricks, as part of the country’s attempt to cut emissions to net zero by the year 2050.

TUDOR TREASURE FOUND UNDERGROUND

A man has unearthed a unique pendant while on a stroll with his metal detector on a friend’s property in Warwickshire in England.?Charlie Clarke found a 500-year-old heart-shaped pendant buried about a foot in the ground, decorated with symbols connected to King Henry VIII and his first wife Katherine of Aragon.????

On one side is Queen Katherine’s emblem of a pomegranate bush, interlaced with the Tudor double-headed rose.?On the reverse, the letters H and K tied with a ribbon.?

There are not many items connected to Katherine still in existence.?The pendant, which has been authenticated, is unique in that there are no records of anyone from the Tudor era wearing such an item.?It’s speculated that the pendant could have been the prize at a jousting tournament, as it was ’hastily crafted’.?

Jim found his creative purpose late in life, after spending most of his working career in corporate sales.?During the Covid lockdown in early 2020, he turned to his passion for music as an outlet.??He began distributing his music on TikTok, SoundCloud and other streaming platforms.?

“I had been making music for over 25 years.?I used to play underground raves back in the day, but got fed up lugging the kit around.?So, I went?back to making music in my bedroom.”

During lockdown, he set up a media and content company called ‘Five Notes Media’ with a friend, offering a range of services from web development to social sizzle reels.?

“I had no intention of offering my music production services as part of this side hustle,” he says. “But my friend suggested that we launch a free music download site for the LinkedIn community.?To my amazement, folk started using it!”

Jim still has a catalogue of music that can be downloaded for free, but its popularity gave him the confidence to turn his music-making hobby into a business.?He now produces bespoke music for video and audio projects, and for special occasions.???
