Is British monarchy racist? Re:Oprah Interview

There is a lingering question in everyone's mind after Oprah's interview of Harry and Megan? Is British monarchy racist?

Americans have an interesting relationship with the crown. A mixture of na?ve admiration and credulousness combined with popstar worship. Racist behavior against an American, implied or otherwise, has touched a raw nerve. For the first time, there is international backlash against the monarchy and its cronies. Over 50% of Britishers are outraged that the monarchy's image is getting a beating without questioning the system. ( UK taxpayers pay 70 million pounds a year to the monarchy).

Racism has multiple facets and metamorphoses into polytheistic expressions depending on the environment and what is socially acceptable.

It is impossible to understand the monarchy's behavior without knowing its racist history in India. Britain siphoned off $45 trillion(ref: Dr.Patnaik, Columbia University press) from India (yes, a staggering sum) in less than 200 years. It would be akin to taking the US economy and reducing it to the size of Somalian economy.

This theft from India funded all of Britain's wars (WW1&2 and the industrialization of much of the western world). Monarchy benefitted the most from this "democratic" occupation. I doubt, if British kids, learn accurate colonial history in school or college? Don't know, if they are taught about GB being the torch bearers of "democracy" and "human rights"?

Why is this relevant in today's political environment? There has been no attempt made to apologize, make reparations or simply say "sorry" for its despicable colonial actions. This unwillingness to reflect and apologize for the damage caused is a pattern. And its lingering effect of poverty continues to this day in India. It is this attitude, of holding onto "glorious" past and taking a position of superiority which Megan might have encountered. A familiar sight for Indians and now newly awakened Americans.
