British Council event

As part of their Annual Retreat the Iraq Britain Business Council will be hosting a Seminar on Partnerships between British and Iraqi Universities.

Afternoon of Saturday 7th July 2018

Held in the presence of the His Excellency Dr Salih Husain Ali, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq Iraqi Ambassador to the UK and chaired by Dr Victoria Lindsay the British Council Country Director for Iraq the session will include a presentation by Professor Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jaleel Al-Essa, The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq.

The Seminar will be an opportunity to share success stories from those institutions currently operating in Iraq and to explore how the UK Higher Education sector might support the rebuilding, development and growth of Iraqi Higher Education and Research.

In the first instance activity is likely to focus on hosting visiting Iraqi academics, joint research and projects which share best practice in pedagogy, curriculum development and academic administration (quality assurance, librarianship etc). The Minister’s team are keen to explore how they might link with UK institutions to move forward their scholarship scheme however, at this time there are no plans to discuss wider inbound student recruitment.

The group would be particularly pleased to hear from institutions who may be interested in attending the session to learn more about the public and private sector in Iraq. Please contact [email protected] for further details.
