ADVOCACY FOR CREDIT EXTENSION LIMIT TO SINGLE AND GROUP BORROWERS UNDER THE DRAFT LAW ON CREDIT INSTITUTIONS
The Single & Group borrowing limit issue under the draft Law on Credit Institutions has emerged as a crucial concern for both the banking and private sectors in Vietnam. This issue carries significant implications for the overall Vietnamese economy as well.
BritCham, in response to the issue under the draft Law on Credit Institutions, has signed a joint letter with other chambers of commerce, expressing concerns and recommendations to the Prime Minister, National Assembly, and SBV Governor.
Additionally, BritCham has actively participated in a meeting with the National Assembly on this issue and has been supporting the joint letter initiated by the UK Embassy on this matter. Please find the letter?here.
BRITCHAM CO-HOSTS DIALOGUE WITH MOLISA ON WORK PERMITS
BritCham, AmCham, EuroCham, and JCCI co-hosted a Dialogue organized by EuroCham and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) to discuss work permits and the amendment of Decree 152. MOLISA was represented by Mr. Vu Trong Binh, Director of the Employment Department of MOLISA.
The Dialogue covered topics such as the development of the labor force in Vietnam; expectations for the amendment of Decree 152; the definition of “expert” in the context of a work visa application; simplifying visa procedures; and the importance of skilled workers for Foreign Direct Investment.
INDUSTRY UPDATE
POWER DEVELOPMENT PLANNING 8 OF VIETNAM
After almost four years after the first draft was presented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade(MOIT) to the Government, Vietnam’s national power development planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 (PDP8) has finally been approved on 15 May 2023. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 500/QD-TTg signed on behalf of the Prime Minister.
In this legal update, we will look at the most essential takeaways from the approved PDP8.

The partnership with Duy Tan Recycling also opens a new ambition of 30,000 tonnes of plastic waste to be collected and recycled by 2027. Besides, Unilever Vietnam itself also focuses on developing sustainable packaging with 73 per cent packaging recyclability, and 82 per cent plastic reduction through absolute reduction and PCR inclusion.
