Bringing your own secret sauce and special ingredients to the world

Bringing your own secret sauce and special ingredients to the world

It was 31st December 2021. I was on my balcony sipping a glass of cold Rose and listening to music. Suddenly I shot up, my eyes wide open in stark contrast to the relaxing music and wine. I had had an epitome and relaxation was the last thing I was interested in. A voice had surreptitiously whispered into me ear - combine everything.

Combine everything!

Of course!

Up until now I had been having multiple lives. A lawyer/compliance professional by day and an artist by night. My sons would go to the breakfast table in the morning and be greeted by a new painting, doodle or drawing I had produced over night. Sometimes it would be a massive A1 piece of paper stuck to the wall. Sometimes a page in my book scribbled furiously with ideas.

Days were for client work and nights for art.

Or was it? The truth was that I was living two lives. Can I truly bring my passion to my work? Is producing a podcast, painting, video something that could take up real time during my days?

The answer was a call to a great friend.

I need your eye to help me build a website that combines all of me.

My friend, the amazing Erin Keam is a dream to look at, talk to, watch and work with. She has an eye for detail and design that I knew I needed. So I engaged her to be my website stylist, to help me combine all parts of me.

How may people crave variety?

I love creating. I love interviewing and editing. love producing and I love doodling. I also love analysing, designing and presenting workshops and courses, writing policies and contracts, writing board reports, reading cases and a multiple of right and left brain activities. I am sure that I am not the only one! How many of us crave variety on our work and personal lives?

And how many of us truly embrace it?

Interestingly, on the week that I had decided to go live with my new website, is the week that I was publishing two interviews which were all about combining all different parts and being authentically ‘you’. In other words (as one of the guests mentioned) - bringing your own secret sauce to your work.

  1. The first is Part 1 of the Eight Mindsets Interview with Kristy Grant-Hart: Influences. Kristy shares her passion and background in theatre and film which she studied and pursued before her compliance career. As she says

So I I get paid to give hour long monologues right when I'm doing public speaking. So suddenly, my career actually has so much to do with everything that I learned. And every once in a while somebody will say and I want to learn how to speak like you and I said great 20 years of acting coaching. And it's really ... a lifetime of skill preparation...

2. The second is my interview with Bruce Raymond Wright, which I have called "Quantum Thinking”. In it Bruce visually shares his entirely unique perspective of how he thinks that rewards him financially, professionally and spiritually.

In this interview, Bruce also shares his fascinating insights into authenticity:

I would ask the audience how many of them had heard about Elvis Presley by show of hands and literally everybody in the audience would raise their hand ... And then I would ask ... How many of you can name any of the winners of the Elvis impersonator contest over the last five years, that occurs every year in Las Vegas. And I never once had anybody in any audience anywhere in the world, come up with even one name. And so I talked about... the importance of authenticity, being yourself, being passionate about who and what you are, and what you do the way in which you do it, bringing your own secret sauce and your own special ingredients to the world. In other words, sharing your uniqueness with the world..

These two brilliant guests that I interviewed may look shiny, polished and sure of themselves and their work. But if you listen carefully you will see that the reason for their success is not due to the one path they carefully paved, but the diverse unique paths that they both chose to take.

Bruce’s interview is the first interview that I am putting on my new website: https://www.nicolerose.co/features
