Bringing You What's Good

Bringing You What's Good

"Do your little bit of good where you are; it is those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." - Desmond Tutu

Good Sunday morning all and welcome to this edition (No. 28) of "With That Said" (WTS), a LinkedIn newsletter powered by your friends here?at Supply Chain Now .

Today, we wanted to share something we don't get enough of: GOOD NEWS. As you may know, each Friday morning, Scott Luton shares a Good News message on LinkedIn. Typically, it focuses on an uplifting & encouraging leadership lesson learned, applicable to global supply chain and beyond. Scott really enjoys finding critical business learnings in everyday interactions, especially those involving his children. Oftentimes, Scott will celebrate accomplishments & resources from those trusted, talented colleagues across his LinkedIn network.

Let's dive into a few recent examples:

On the value of the "fail, learn, apply, overcome" cycle: "Global supply chain leadership was tested greatly over the last few years. Many organizations failed the test. But the Good News that should give us all cause for optimism? Much like my boy Ben: they learned tremendously from those failures - - and many have applied those learnings in powerful ways to find success in ways old & new." Read in full here . And we invite you to add your own comment & take.

Celebrating those individual change agents out there: "So to all of those singular voices out there, fighting the good fight, and trying to change a room & the status quo: hold the faith & keep going. As?Charles Walker, ?shared earlier this morning: "Never underestimate the power of persistence." Read in full here .

Having fun with business lessons learned from music greats: "The Greatest Showman's "???????? ?????? ????" - first, if you haven't seen this movie, add it to your weekend To-Do list. This tune, to me, speaks to the powerful truth that it truly is never too late. If you aren't the leader (or the person) you want to be, then start today. If you aren't happy with the performance of an aspect of your organization, then start to do something about it today." Read in full here (and add one of your fav tunes!)

Learnings from Rick McDonald, CSCO at The Clorox Company: "A high-performing team is truly all in it together. It ain't about pointing fingers. It ain't about excuses. It ain't about what coulda, shoulda, mighta been. It ain't about the "but, but, but this or but, but, but that". At the proverbial end of the day, it is about the outcomes & results. And as Rick shared, especially as leaders, we gotta take ownership of those results. Hey, that's what we signed up for." Read in full here.

The story (and impact) of Steve from USPS: "And if you've ever worked for an incredibly large enterprise, especially part of the government like I have, you may know how difficult it is to change/fix/improve anything. But that wasn't gonna stop Steve from providing a wonderful experience for Amanda & I. And he would stop every once & awhile to help other customers and employees, because clearly to everyone else in that post office: Steve was a go-to resource that everyone loved to work with." Read in full here.

The extraordinary importance of our teachers: "Ms. Woods, Ms. Beckham, so many others that made an indelible mark on my world view & journey. And teachers like Ms. Camp and Ms. Jansen that have continued that important legacy, by positively shaping my own kids' journeys. I am so very thankful. But it all comes with the expectation that we pay it forward: so may we all find the courage to be a Ms. Bowen in someone else's journey." Read in full here .

As Scott likes to say: "there's always good news if you go looking for it." And we try to make it easy for you: you can connect or follow Scott on LinkedIn, where you'll find his Good News message every Friday morning (usually before 10am ET): Scott on LinkedIn

Finally today, in true Good News fashion, we want to celebrate a development that we learned last week. Jason Hoch is not only an award-winning, legendary digital content producer & industry leader - - but he's also been a considerate contributor, mentor and formal advisor to the SCN team over the last couple of years. Jason will be adding to his list of doing big things, as he is leading an exciting new venture. According to The Hollywood Reporter :

" audiochuck , the media company behind?Ashley Flowers' hit podcast?"Crime Junkie",?has brought on Jason Hoch to lead a newly formed podcast network focused on premium audio programming across multiple genres. Hoch was most recently the President of?Podcasts?for?Imperative Entertainment (Triangle of Sadness, Killers of the Flower Moon), where he launched 23 original series; top projects included?"Boomtown",?a co-production with the?Texas Monthly?that is set to be adapted by?Yellowstone?creator Tyler Sheridan under the name?Land Man, and?Elizabeth the First,?a 10-episode series about Elizabeth Taylor narrated by Katy Perry. Prior to Imperative, Hoch was the chief content officer at HowStuffWorks."
